THE EDGE MAGAZINEThis past spring, I designed two layouts for The Edge, a lifestyle magazine in Elon, NC. I have held a couple of different positions with the magazine, however creating work for the print issue was always the most fun for me. When creating these layouts I took into account the article, images, and overall aesthetic of the magazine.
#1 This magazine layout design is aimed to grab the readers attention. The stark background contrasted with the bold, bright text and large images begs readers to pause at this article. I chose to emphasize certain words in the pink cursive to convey their importance to anyone reading or even to anyone just skimming through.
#2 For this layout I wanted to make it like a scrapbook that was on messy desk with old chachkies on it. I decided to make the photos look older to match the vibe of the pages and wanted the red font to look like a grandmothers handwriting.
